This is one of my favorite holiday snacks because it brings warmth and comfort in every bite while being simple enough to prepare last minute.
Ingredients
- Bread: 8 slices soft white sandwich bread crusts removed
- Cheese: 8 slices cheddar cheese (or your preferred melting cheese)
- For Cooking: 3 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
- Optional for Serving: 1/2 cup marinara sauce or tomato soup warmed
Instructions
- Step 1:
- Flatten each bread slice with a rolling pin until thin.
- Step 2:
- Place one cheese slice on each slice of bread.
- Step 3:
- Roll up each bread slice tightly around the cheese pressing to seal the edge.
- Step 4:
- Brush the outside of each rollup lightly with softened butter.
- Step 5:
- Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat.
- Step 6:
- Place rollups seam side down in the skillet. Cook for 23 minutes per side turning until all sides are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Step 7:
- Remove from skillet and let cool slightly.
- Step 8:
- Serve warm with marinara sauce or tomato soup for dipping if desired.
